History and Social Science
Manville’s History and Social Sciences curriculum integrates the concepts, events, ideas and people from fields of study including History, Geography, Civics & Government and Economics. Our lesson content includes factual information, concept development, and helps students understand the decision-making process as it applies to topics including ancient civilizations, United States and world history and geography, lawmaking, and human rights.
At all grade levels, students explore these topics through texts, primary sources, literature, videos, art, hands-on activities and field trips. The curriculum is aligned with the History and Social Sciences Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks. The use of SMART Boards in the classrooms makes history much more accessible for our students by enabling teachers to utilize Internet access for video and/or audio presentations, as well as text, pictures, and graphics for delivering information.
