Judge Baker Welcomes Thanda F. Brassard to the Board of Trustees

BOSTON, MA (June 27, 2016) – Judge Baker Children’s Center (Judge Baker), a national leader in children’s mental health, today announced that it elected Thanda F. Brassard, vice president and trust counsel at Fiduciary Trust, to its Board of Trustees.

Thanda Brassard is also vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary of Fiduciary Trust Company of New England where she serves as chair of its trust committee and as a director of the firm. Thanda has in-depth experience counseling individuals and families on their estate and gift tax planning matters. In her capacity as a trustee of Judge Baker, Thanda’s legal expertise and experience working with families will be a valuable asset as the Board of Trustees continues to support Judge Baker’s vision of ensuring that all children and families throughout the Commonwealth and beyond have access to the highest quality care possible.

Before joining Fiduciary in 2006, Thanda worked as a trusts and estates associate at Ropes & Gray and at Hill & Barlow in Boston, and she served as a law clerk to Judge Zachary R. Karol of the United States District Court of Massachusetts. Thanda is also president of the Frederick E. Weber Charities Corporation, a charitable organization that provides grants to non-profit organizations that support low-income individuals and families in Massachusetts.

Thanda earned her B.A. from Boston College and her J.D. from Boston College Law School. She is a member of the American Bar Association, the Massachusetts Bar Association, the Boston Bar Association, the New Hampshire Estate Planning Council, the Boston Estate Planning Council, and the Asian American Lawyers Association of Massachusetts.

An affiliate of Harvard Medical School, Judge Baker Children’s Center is a nationally recognized children’s mental health organization dedicated to improving the quality of mental health care for children and families. Named in honor of Harvey Humphrey Baker, the first judge appointed to the Boston Juvenile Court, Judge Baker opened its doors in 1917 and has been serving the children and families of greater Boston for almost 100 years. The multi-faceted organization provides the very best in evidence-based practices for children and families struggling with a range of behavioral, emotional, educational, and mental health issues.
