Judge Baker Welcomes David J. Martens to the Board of Trustees

BOSTON, MA (April 4, 2016) – Judge Baker Children’s Center (Judge Baker), a national leader in children’s mental health, today announced that it elected David J. Martens, Director of Investment Analysis & Operations at Boston College, to its Board of Trustees.

Franks, Ph.D., President and CEO, Judge Baker. “David represents a new generation of governance for our almost 100 year old institution. I look forward to working with David and utilizing his background in finance, investment, and strategic planning to broaden the impact of Judge Baker. Our dynamic Board of Trustees will support Judge Baker’s growth and future directions in the years to come, as we diligently continue our work to ensure that all children and families throughout the Commonwealth and beyond have access to the highest quality care possible.”

In his role as Director of Investment Analysis & Operations at Boston College, Mr. Martens supports senior management and the Trustee Investment Committee in the oversight and administration of the University’s $2.3 billion endowment. His primary responsibilities include the development of in-depth quantitative and qualitative analyses of existing and prospective investment managers, risk management, liquidity management, financial modeling, long range planning, and oversight of all investment operations. Prior to joining Boston College in 2003, Mr. Martens was an investment banking analyst at Deutsche Bank.

Mr. Martens holds a Masters of Business Administration, Masters of Science in Finance and an undergraduate degree, summa cum laude, from Boston College. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst and Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst.

An affiliate of Harvard Medical School, Judge Baker is a nationally recognized children’s mental health organization dedicated to improving the quality of mental health care for children and families. Named in honor of Harvey Humphrey Baker, the first judge appointed to the Boston Juvenile Court, Judge Baker first opened its doors in 1917.
